About Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club

SMKC, a member of the American Kennel Club, has been in existence since 1953 and is devoted to raising awareness and educating people about purebred dogs. Our members are dog breeders and owners from all walks of life. We have members that show dogs in almost every AKC performance event that is offered for their particular breed. We also have members that are just concerned and interested pet owners. We offer a Breeder Referral Service to the community providing information on buying a puppy, finding breeders, and other information on dogs.

SMKC holds several AKC Events throughout the year. Our annual Dog Shows are held in early November in conjunction with the Eastern Shore Classic Cluster. This five day event has SMKC, Talbot KC and Mispillion KC joining together at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center to bring Conformation, Obedience and Rally entries from all over the USA to compete at this event. Dog Merchandise vendors abound and Health Clinics are provided for the public and the fancy. Great motels and restaurants within minutes of the Civic Center make this Cluster "MORE ON THE SHORE!!" SMKC also holds two stand alone Obedience/Rally Trials during the year at our Training Center, these events are held in February and July. SMKC hosts three major Agility Trials at the Crown Sports Center in Salisbury in April, June and August. All of these events draw top competitors to the Eastern Shore.

SMKC offers to its members and to the general public classes in obedience, conformation show handling, and agility. These are held ongoing 12 months of the year. Educational opportunities with seminars and classes are held on an ongoing basis in breed, obedience, and agility.
